Featuring ghostly tales from:
Joe Stretch (Manchester Writing School)
Joe Stretch is the author of three novels. His lastest, The Adult, received the Somerset Maugham Award.

Jai Lythgoe (HAUNT Manchester storyteller)
J Lythgoe is a poet, storyteller and rumoured to be a normal living human, will spellbind the audience with a selection of their favourite ghostly tales and absolutely no dark powers from beyond the grave.

Alicia Edwards (Manchester Centre for Gothic Studies)
Alicia Edwards is a PhD candidate with the Manchester Centre for Gothic Studies. Her research looks at the relationship between the literary ghost story, literary cartographies and ghost tourism in London. She has always had a love of all things spooky, spending many nights of her childhood indulging in Goosebumps and the fireside stories from Are You Afraid of the Dark? Her interests range from ghosts to witchcraft and monstrosity of all sorts! On this special yuletide haunt, Alicia will be bringing back the Victorian tradition by reading an abridged version of Amelia B. Edwards’s “The Phantom Coach”, originally published in 1893. Come and listen to the chilling tale of a ghostly snowy night in Northern England, and what lurks inside this most peculiar coach.

Family friendly ghost stories, free mulled wine and mince pies for the grown ups. It’s also Foodie Friday in Stockport Market Square,  right outside our front door so why not make a night of it by grabbing some delicious street-food and sampling Stockport’s newest hostelries after the event!

Market/Place Studios is a beautiful Mock-Tudor building in Stockport’s historic Market Square in the Old Town district.

Market/Place Studios are employability and enterprise retail project spaces at Manchester Metropolitan University. The spaces give work/retail spaces for students and graduates to develop their products for sale directly to the public, with mentoring and support.

When you buy a piece of innovative design, craft or art from Market/Place shop, you are not simply purchasing a unique piece of work exclusively made in the region by the best new creative talent – you are also supporting a whole new generation of creative opportunities as the profit from the shop funds our workshop programme available for the whole community of Stockport.

So buy something really special this Xmas, or gift someone a creative experience – at Market/Place Studios!
