Castlefield Gallery is delighted to present SUBI 수비 curated by Castlefield Gallery & Barim (Korea) and in partnership with Manchester Art Gallery, and Manchester Craft and Design Centre, and presented to be timed with Asia Triennial Manchester.
We are delighted to invite you and a guest to join us for an afternoon of events to celebrate the opening of the SUBI 수비 programme:
3pm Meet Janet Boston Craft and Design Curator at Manchester Art Gallery to learn more about the gallery’s small but fascinating Korean ceramics collection displayed in their newly opened Granada Study Centre.
4pm We’ll join artist Eunmi Kim for a first glimpse of her debut solo exhibition A Journey Homeat Manchester Craft Design Centre.
5pm Enjoy drinks with Castlefield Gallery Director, Helen Wewiora and a short exhibition tour of SUBI 수비 led by Castlefield Gallery Curator, Matthew Pendergast and some of the exhibition artists.
Our public preview will continue from 6pm-9pm at Castlefield Gallery on Thursday 13 September.

At Castlefield Gallery, SUBI 수비 brings together a diverse group of experimental artists, product designers and master makers. All are highly skilled as a result of either formal training, self-teaching, or passing down from one generation to another. The exhibition will feature traditional ceramics alongside works which explore the materiality of clay with ceramic costumes, film, and sound. Visitors to the gallery will also be invited to add their own handmade clay objects to the exhibition.

Castlefield Gallery, Manchester Art Gallery, and Manchester Craft and Design Centre present SUBI 수비, a programme in three parts located across the city of Manchester.
